The Challenge
Contego Response, established in 2009, delivers environmental and pest control services across the UK. As their client base grew, they wanted to strengthen the way they presented operational insight to customers. They needed a secure customer portal that would allow clients to view issues identified by engineers, track remedial actions, and monitor progress in real time. The portal also needed to connect directly to their field service management system, BigChange, so that information would flow smoothly without duplication.
Creating this capability was central to their growth strategy. Contego wanted to bring their digital experience in line with national environmental service brands and provide a platform that would enhance their sales collateral. Speed mattered, so the focus was on delivering first value quickly to support early returns on investment.
The Solution
We designed and delivered a customer portal hosted in Microsoft Azure with a .Net backend and a ReactJS front end. The system included a clean dashboard experience for both customer users and Contego staff, with permissions tailored to each role. Integration with BigChange ensured that job data, engineer notes, and actions appeared automatically, giving customers an accurate picture of activity without administrative work.
By prioritising essential functionality first, we ensured the portal was ready to support live operations early in the project. Additional refinements followed as the system bedded in, allowing Contego to keep momentum while extending capability at the right pace.
The Outcome
The portal became a core part of Contego's service offering. It elevated their digital presence, supporting their ambition to compete with national brands. It also proved highly effective in winning work, becoming a strong feature in their sales material. As their footprint expanded, the platform provided the stability and visibility needed to scale nationally.
The result was a confident, modern digital service that helped Contego strengthen client relationships and convert more opportunities, while keeping the time to return on investment firmly in view.
