The Challenge
VetMedi, founded in 2021, set out to run a fully online veterinarian pharmacy with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance and operational efficiency. To support rapid growth, they needed a hosted web portal that could handle prescription order fulfilment from start to finish. This included checking prescription details, approving orders, producing compliant prescription labels and maintaining a clear record of every action.
The system also needed to integrate with Shopify so orders could be received automatically and matched to the correct prescription information. VetMedi wanted to create a single source of truth for both veterinary staff and warehouse teams, improving oversight and reducing administrative friction. Security was essential. Only registered vets needed the authority to sign off orders, ensuring accountability and a full audit trail.
The speed of delivery was important. VetMedi wanted a platform that could begin adding value quickly, helping them bring services online and generate a return on investment without delay.
The Solution
We delivered a secure, Azure-hosted fulfilment portal using a .Net backend and a Blazor front end. The system gave staff access from any location, allowing them to work from home while still printing prescription labels in the warehouse with no need to be on site. The workflow was kept simple and intuitive, making it easy to check details, approve requests and complete orders.
Integration with Shopify ensured that order data arrived in real time and was linked immediately to the relevant prescription. To streamline operations further, we developed a custom label print server, installed on-site, that enabled one-click printing of compliant labels, reducing handling time and supporting consistent quality across every order.
By focusing first on core fulfilment functions, we helped VetMedi launch quickly and begin processing orders at scale while additional enhancements were delivered in step with their growth.
The Outcome
The new platform transformed the way VetMedi operated. It provided a dependable workflow, clear audit trails and a secure approval process that protected both customers and the business. The efficiency gains were significant. With a stable and accessible system in place, VetMedi increased the number of registered veterinarians on its payroll by 300%. This gave them the capacity to process several times the number of orders and unlocked a major uplift in revenue.
